Twilight’s Nomadic Desire.1997-2002. (Remastered 2010)
This work is the first movement in a three part work called “Entropic Twilights”. This work is largely misunderstood for being too “sweet”. The work was my millennia composition. Perhaps the sweetness was the last optimism of the late 20th century before we had 9/11, full blown neo-liberalism, and now Covid-19. The program notes and full score can be viewed here:

This re-mastering job was also a re-writing job. The original work was 49’ long. In 2010 the work lost a lot of weight and came down to 36’. I only wish I could so easily re-master my body shape!
The work is based on four diatonic melodies, which are often articulated with the extensive use of pitched in-harmonic sounds made of metal. Much of the movement in the work has to do with either doubling or substituting normal harmonic series, orchestral music instruments, with these metal instruments.
The diatonic melodies are performed monophonically or with extreme polyphony created through the use of multiple tempos. Having the four diatonic melodies played in 10 types of different synthetic scales creates another variation technique. (See score, opening comments for detailed explanation).
I listened to the work before uploading, and I thought its sweetness and optimism, is perhaps the re assurance we need in time of Covid-19. You decide. But if you are looking for dissonant angry, pessimistic, new music please go to the next work “Below the Walls of Jericho.”
The work was commissioned by ACREQ.
The work is included in the "Golden Dolden Box Set" available under the "merchandise" tab. This box set includes all my music, scores and essays from 1984 to 2021.
